ACCOUNT
Create an Account and Save Your Credentials
First, open the new-user section in the VPNWhen user panel and follow the prompts to choose a username and password. No email address is required to create an account. Choose a recognizable username and a password you don't use on other sites. Before submitting, check your input method to avoid accidentally including spaces or full-width characters in your login details. Save your credentials in a trusted password manager rather than relying on a browser's temporary storage.
Once you're done, open the account overview and confirm that it shows the account you just created. If the panel returns you to the login page, sign in with the username and password you saved; there's no need to create another account. For your first setup, it's best to continue in the same browser to avoid mixing up orders or subscriptions after switching windows or accounts. If you already have an account, sign in and continue to the next step.
Your account is for managing orders, subscriptions, and support tickets. The client handles the actual server connection, so they serve different purposes. After creating an account, choose a plan that fits your needs and import the subscription from the panel into your client. Don't change your system network settings repeatedly before you have a subscription. Completing the account setup first makes it easier to identify any issues later. If you have trouble signing in, see the account and subscription help guide.
PLAN
Choose a Plan and Review Your Order
Open the Plans section in the panel and choose a data tier based on how you use the service. Monthly plans are suited to regular use: ¥9.9/month includes 60GB, ¥18/month includes 250GB, and ¥28/month includes 500GB. Data resets monthly on your activation date, not on the first of each calendar month. If you upgrade mid-cycle, the price difference is prorated for the remaining days. Consider your video streaming, file transfer, and everyday browsing needs rather than choosing based only on the number of devices, since simultaneous connections are unlimited.
If you'd rather use data as needed, the Plans section also offers data packages: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB, and ¥658/3000GB. They remain valid until used and never expire. Monthly plans and data packages work differently: monthly plans reset each month, while packages draw down from your remaining balance. Your available options and how an existing plan is handled will be shown in the panel before you place an order. For a full price comparison, see plan pricing and billing details.
Before proceeding, check the plan name, amount, and billing terms in your order, then follow the payment steps in the panel. Alipay, WeChat Pay, and USDT are supported. After payment, return to the same panel page to check the order status and plan details in your account overview. Completing the payment page doesn't necessarily mean the panel has synced your status. If it hasn't updated yet, refresh the order status and check your payment record before trying again. VPNWhen offers a 14-day money-back guarantee. See the Terms of Service for how to request a refund.
SUBSCRIPTION
Get Your Subscription Link from the Panel
Once your plan status is confirmed, open your account overview in the user panel and find the subscription section. Your subscription link lets the client retrieve the server configurations available to your account. It's not a regular website address or an installer. If the panel offers an import option for your client, use it where possible. Otherwise, copy the subscription link and choose the option to add a subscription by link in your client.
Use the copy function in the panel to avoid missing the beginning or end of the link. Don't paste it into a search bar, public chat, or online conversion tool, and don't share an uncropped screenshot to show its contents. The link may contain credentials that identify your account, and anyone with access to it may be able to use its associated subscription resources. To transfer it between devices, use a trusted private method and delete temporary copies when they're no longer needed.
Your client uses the subscription to retrieve server configurations, and you can update it in the client later; you usually don't need to copy the link every time you connect. If the locations shown don't match the panel, try updating the existing subscription rather than adding multiple copies of the same configuration. If your subscription link is exposed, check the panel for an option to reset it, then update the saved link on each device. If you're unsure where to find this option, contact support through a panel ticket. For more on the difference between a subscription and an individual server, see the beginner's guide to subscription links.
CLIENT IMPORT
Import the Client on Your Platform
Download the client from the user panel; this guide doesn't provide direct installer links. Clients are available after signing in, except on iOS, and you don't need a paid plan to get one. Subscriptions are available after signing in. Installing the client and activating a subscription are separate steps: after getting the client, confirm your plan and subscription status, then import the subscription. Where available, choose the VPNWhen client for your operating system to avoid compatibility issues that could prevent subscription data from being recognized.
The steps below describe common menu locations; names may differ. To confirm a successful import, look for the subscription configuration and server locations in the client. Pasting the link into a field alone doesn't mean it's been imported. If your system asks permission to open the client, make sure it's the application you installed before proceeding.
Windows: Add a Configuration from the Settings Page
Choose the Windows client in the panel, follow the installation prompts, and open the app. Go to a management page called “Configuration,” “Subscription,” or something similar, then look for an option such as “Import from link” or “Add subscription.” Paste the full link you copied, save it, and update the subscription. If the panel offers a direct import button, you can use it to open the client, then check that the configuration has been added to the list.
Some clients select the imported configuration automatically; others require you to set it as the active configuration. Once the server locations appear, keep the default rules and avoid changing the protocol, routing, and system proxy settings at the same time. If another proxy tool is running on your device, disconnect it first to avoid conflicts before following the final connection check in this guide.
macOS: Import and Check Permissions
Choose the VPNWhen client for macOS in the panel and open its configuration management section after installation. Use the option to add a subscription by URL or link, paste the link, save it, and update the server list. You can also use the matching import option in the panel. If your browser doesn't open the app, return to the client and import the link manually; there's no need to get another subscription.
When you connect for the first time, macOS may ask you to confirm a network configuration or grant a related permission. Make sure the prompt comes from the client you opened, then follow the system instructions. Importing a subscription and enabling the system connection are separate steps: seeing server locations in the list means the configuration has been loaded, but you still need to choose a server and turn on the connection for your browser to use it.
Android: Import from Configuration Management
Sign in to the panel to get the Android client, then install it as prompted by your system. In the app, open configuration or subscription management, tap the add button, and choose the option to import from a link. Paste the subscription link and save it. In some versions, this option is in the menu and may be called “Import configuration” or “Remote subscription.” Choose the option that reads a subscription link, not a page that asks you to enter server details manually.
After the update finishes, return to the home screen, select the configuration you just imported, and choose a server location. On your first connection, Android will ask you to authorize the VPN connection; confirm the app's source and continue. If the connection drops only after the app goes into the background, check Android's background activity restrictions for the client. There's no need to change every battery setting during the initial setup.
iOS: Get and Import the Client According to Panel Requirements
The panel shows the current requirements for getting the iOS client. Open the Downloads section and check the relevant option. If the page requires an eligible plan, follow its instructions to get the client. If you can't access it yet, first check that your account plan is active; don't use an installation method from an unknown source. Once you have the app, use the matching import option in the panel or add the subscription link through the app's subscription or configuration management page.
Save your changes, update the subscription, and check that the server locations appear. When you enable the connection, iOS may ask to let the app add a VPN configuration and confirm your identity through the system. Adding the configuration doesn't mean you've verified access to your target service. Return to the client, choose a server, enable the connection, and check the result in the next step.
Linux and Other Interface Differences
VPNWhen also supports Linux, and you can get the client from the panel. Follow the installation instructions for your system, then import the link in subscription management. Don't assume system proxy steps for other platforms apply to Linux. If your interface differs significantly from this guide, check the Help Center or describe your operating system, client interface, and current step in a support ticket. For more on protocol behavior and server topology, see the technical reference to protocols and server routes; you don't need to understand it all to import a subscription.
CONNECTION CHECK
Connect to a Server and Verify It Works
After importing the subscription, choose a server location in the client and turn on the connection. Base your choice on the region required by the service you want to use. For example, if you need access from Tokyo, start by checking a Tokyo server. Don't assume a specific streaming library will work based on the server name alone. The result may depend on the server type, how the service classifies it, and your account's region. Check actual access after connecting. See the server page for details on locations and server types.
For your first connection, keep the client's default rule mode. Different requests may take different routes in this mode, so not every website will show the same exit region. First check that the client shows a connected status, then open the website or app you want to use and confirm that the page loads, you can continue through sign-in, and the content you need is accessible. Seeing the system's VPN indicator only confirms that a system connection was established; it doesn't prove that the target service is available.
If the target page still won't load, first disconnect the client and confirm that your local network can access other sites. Then return to the client, update the subscription, choose a different server, and reconnect. Change only one setting at a time and note the result, so you can identify the cause instead of changing the protocol, server, and rules all at once. If a webpage loads but an app doesn't, check whether the app is assigned a different route by the rules, then restart it without changing the server.
Once you've confirmed the connection works, keep the working configuration and update the subscription later as prompted by the client. To use multiple devices, import and verify the subscription separately on each one. Simultaneous connections are unlimited, but keep your subscription credentials secure on every device. If you need help, open a support ticket in the panel and include your operating system, client, selected server location, and the checks you've completed. Hide the full subscription link and account credentials in screenshots. For connection issues, speed changes, or billing questions, see the Help Center; there's no need to recreate your account.
